Married at 21, IPS at 27, woman officer inspire girls to implement the basic rule of commitment and perseverance in achieving their dreams, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police(ADCP) Sundarvizhi said that always dream big in life . ADCP Sundarvizhi, a 2007 batch IPS officer posted in Jalandhar shared that if one is determined to scaling new heights in career, marriage or hostile condition would never come as a hindrance.

Hailing from a middle class family of kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu, Sundarvizhi got married at the age of 21 and made it to the IPS in the year 2007. 

The woman officer said that her father was a banker and was determined to ensure that his 3 daughter would excel in life. However, due to some family circumstances Sundarvizhi was married at the age of 21 years. She was the selected for a job in the Civil secretariat.  But Sundarvizhi was determined to join the coveted civil services.

The turning point in her life came, her elder daughter was one and half year old and she started preparing for the UPSC.

Sundarvizhi was not able to attend any coaching classes and focused on self preparation. However the journey of preparing for UPSC was not a cakewalk, as her husband met with an accident and he was hospitalized. Later her daughter sustained injuries and remained in the hospital.

A little dejected, Sundarvizhi appeared in the mains exam and the interview. However, she could not make it in first attempt.

Though the IPS officer then decided to abandon the dream but her family motivated to try again. Sundarvizhi cleared the UPSC in her second attempt.

"Beti Bachao, Beti Badhao campaign to as a step on right direction to transform the density of girl child in the society" she said.

The woman IPS officer said that marriage should not be considered as a full stop to career achievements. "Even if you get married, girls should not stop pursuing their aim in life. Be brave to speak your mind and conquer the world", she added.
